Soft Tissue Sarcoma

Soft tissue sarcomas are those cancers found in places like muscle, fat and fibrous tissue. These areas of the body are also called connective tissue.  There are more than 50 types of soft tissue sarcomas, the most common of which are rhabdomyosarcoma and Ewing sarcoma.

Each year, approximately 900 children are diagnosed with rare soft tissue sarcomas such as:

  • Synovial sarcoma
  • Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor
  • Desmoplastic round cell tumor
  • Desmoid tumors
  • Rhabdoid tumors
  • Epithelioid sarcoma
  • Chondrosarcoma
  • Alveolar soft part sarcoma
  • Undifferentiated Sarcoma
